A family guide to World Pride 2025 in DC (and local celebrations too!)
June has always been my favorite month of the year here – colorful, vibrant, unapologetic and hot like fire! This year, to mark 50 years of local Pride celebrations, DC is taking the international stage by hosting World Pride!
Many families have been celebrating since well before they were kin while others have joined in more recently as their children discover and express their truest selves. Additionally there are families like mine, cis-gendered/hetero-normative, and who support our LGBTQ+ family, friends and neighbors rights to exist and live safely alongside us.
There has never been a more crucial time to center equality, visibility and justice and I’m excited to see more events and happenings created for children, youth and families, year after year.

World Pride 2025 – Youth Pride Events Calendar
Drag Queen Story Hour at Unity Park the last Sunday of every month this summer!
Take a bike ride on the “Rainbow Road”, a mural art display by 7 local artists spanning over a half a mile of bike lane on 15th St b/t O and V.
